Ahhhh, it's good to be skiing again... I took a run down Homerun and I thought that I'd try to show how long this one run really is (I think it's a bit over a mile and a half). So, here's a video showing a top to bottom run down Homerun that I took this morning:
Eric -
Good work! The little video is a good representation of the available terrain, but it needs to be updated now that there is some snow cover on the brown hills....
Eric replies:
David, thanks for the excuse to get bak up on the mountain!

How many runs would you envision being open by the weekend if you had to guess?
Eric replies:
Mike, right now, I am "guessing" six runs by Saturday - that's if we can keep our snowmaking going full bore through the week !

Eric-
RE: RSS feeds
Check out how the Canyons does it. The feed only has a single entry and lists the number of lifts and trails open along with some other information about recent snow fall and base depth.
I wouldn't worry about listing what trails are open at the moment. People probably aren't going to use it at 230 to see if Silver Queen is open right now and if they are interested they can click through to the website from the RSS feed that tells them how many trails were open and groomed at opening time.
Chris
Eric replies:
Thanks for the input Chris - we will try to get a Rss feed of our snow report up soon!

So I know this isn't you guys but since I'm too lazy to email the webmaster for the PCMR site....
an RSS feed for the snow report page would be a welcome addition to the website.
Eric replies:
Chris, I also manage the PCMR web stuff and I can tell you that we've looked into an RSS feed for the snow report page, but we haven't figured out the best implementation. The issue is that the feed will get really 'messy' on snow days when we're closing and opening multiple lifts and areas - making for a bunch of potentially redundant updates. That said, I think we may have a solution shortly - keep checking back!

any update on the scheduled opening of more runs?
Eric replies:
Brendan, we're getting close with Payday, First Time and Treasure Hollow, but it's been warming up during the day (too warm for efficient snowmaking), which means we probably won't be able to open them until later this week - stayed tuned as we'll update as soon as we know!

Somewhere I read the water for snowmaking comes from some ponds by the golf course. Just how much water is in reserve? And how much terrain would it cover assuming temps stay cold enough?
Eric replies:
MoSno, I don't know the quantity of water that the pond holds but I do know that we do have the coverage to cover over 500 acres of terrain with snowmaking.

When are you guys going to get a park up? and how much is going to be up when you get one up?
Eric replies:
Alec, see our terrain park blog at http://parkcity.typepad.com/ride_park_city/ for this sort of info. Mike will be updating this info as soon as he knows what's going up for features and where!

Nice run.
looks like some snow making was happening on other trails as you were coming down.
I'm planning on a trip up to PCMR this weekend - 12-1-07, if the weather holds with snow making temps what is your best guess on number of trails?
Still prying for some natural snow, but I'll take what i can get.
I grew up with this kind of early season skiing in the east so I'll be like a kid in a candy store.
Eric replies:
Jim, Payday, Treasure Hollow and First Time runs are all well underway with snowmaking and I would hope that they will be open in the next few days (prior to your arrival) - with upper Homerun and Silver Hollow being the next scheduled runs for snowmaking. We'll keep on pushing to open as many runs as quickly as we can!
