Simply put, Day 2 of The Launch was heli day. The Red Bull chopper flew in and the kids sent it. Watch the video, let your jaw drop, then watch again.

If you've been riding at Park City this week, then you have seen snowboarders flying high in King's Crown Terrain Park. In fact, they're going so big, you've probably seen them from town. Snowboarder Magazine has brought the world's best under-age shredders (18 and under) to throw down on some massive features built by Jeremy Cooper and his talented terrain park crew for The Launch.
The Launch isn't a contest, it's a chance for the next generation of riders to step it up and put their name on the map. We have a slew of photographers and videographers from every major snowboard company waiting to see what these kids are going to throw down and make sure the world gets to see it. It's an honor for a rider to be invited and these kids never disappoint. They are here because they are the next big thing and they are hungry for progression.
I could describe the course for you, or you could listen to what Snowboarder Magazine's T Bird has to say about it. "A slew of rail features lead into a massive step up, which direct the underage riders toward a treacherous channel gap. Following the first two jumps immediately are an 80 foot step down equipped with a monstrous wedge. Then there’s the hip, in direct view of chairlifters, and it funnels into a 22-foot quarterpipe. It’s perfection personified in modern-day park building." - T. Bird

Still don't have those back rodeos dialed? Don't worry, we're giving you an added week to get those tricks in the bag! Park City Mountain Resort is extending the 2010/2011 Winter Season to April 17th, 2011.
It seems that Mother nature refuses to give up on Winter. Park City has been greeted to new snow morning after morning and its forecasted to keep coming down. The conditions are fantastic and we want you to come out and enjoy the mountain!
The best part about extending is that King's Crown will open up to the public in the final week. You'll be able to hit some of the features that the terrain park crew is building for The Launch (with a few modifications so you don't break yourself off.)
Cobra Dogs will be staying open as well! This is our last week of night skiing, so their new hours are 12-4 starting Monday, March 28th.
Looking out the window, the snow is falling as I type and the long-range weather forecast is calling for snow through our NEW scheduled closing day April 17, 2011!
Terrain openings and pricing will be announced at a later date.

The Monster Energy team invaded Park City to host the training camp for the upcoming Winter X Games 15. The team hit the Monster Energy airbag to allow them to practice their skills and dial in some new tricks. We saw Colby West, Jacob Wester, Jossi Wells, Alex Schlopy, Justin Dorey, Peter Olenick, Sarah Burke and Parker White getting it done. Good luck at Winter X and we'll see you back here for the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships in early February! Film/Edit by Tim Pierce.
