The creativity and enthusiasm that riders brought to Park City's Transworld TransAM was just downright exhausting, in a good way! This contest aims to bring new features and unconventional setups to am snowboarders around the country to see what these shred hungry kids can produce. The Park City crop was chomping at the bit to hit the setup and brought the energy.
The traffic jam kicked off and riders literally exploded onto the features. The HCSC bus was an early crowd favorite as riders launched over it, or buttered the top, all while exhaust fog came pouring out the back. The Zumiez couch saw a whole living room setup, including a lazy member of the park crew lounging in front of the TV at this stop. I'm not sure what the TV did to anyone, but it was a vicious bonking target. During the finals, The Ride Snowboards Wish you were Here Gap jump separated the in to win its from the here to have a good timers. While small in size, we still saw rodeos, huge methods and spins. Technical rail tricks were a must on the Anon down rail as well as keeping enough speed to hit Coal beanie bonk at the bottom of the course. The Coal beanie was also the spot for epic, crowd pleasing falls.
Huge props go out to our terrain parks crew for all the hard work and creativity that went into building the course. What many of you may not know is that the TransAM is also a build competition between each resort. At each stop, the terrain park crew is required to build and setup a Coal beanie, High Cascade Bus, Anon down rail, Zumiez couch, Ride Snowboards Wish you were here gap jump, and Giro feature. I may be biased, but I'm pretty sure Jeremy Cooper and his crew set a new standard. The Coal beanie was complete with sunglasses and nose, the bus had tires, a license plate, tail lights and was painted yellow. Not to mention the whole living room setup to complete the Zumiez couch. Make sure you give those guys a high five next time you see them on hill. They deserve some recognition for building such creative and good looking features.
The day wrapped up with a pizza party that should have been called a free shwag party. Riders were greeted to tables piled high with free goodies to take home as well as a raffle for more sweet product. The winners received High Cascade Snowboard Camp signature backpacks filled with Anon goggles, Zumiez giftcards, Coal beanies and Ride outerwear. The winners also got hooked up with a new deck from Ride snowboards as well as a free trip to Bear Mountain, CA (courtesy of Zumiez) for the TransAM finals!
