The temperatures are cooperating and we've begun to blow snow. Here's the official news: opening day at Park City Mountain Resort will be this coming Friday, November 28! So kick back on Turkey Day, eat lots of food, watch lots of football, and get ready to hit the slopes. The resort plans to open with both PayDay and First Time Lifts, but we're still waiting to see exactly which runs we'll be opening. Check out the results of this weekends' snowmaking efforts...
Unseasonably warm temeratures have affected our scheduled opening day, and unfortunately Park City Mountain Resort won't be opening on Saturday, November 22. I'd like to be jibbing in Pick 'n Shovel and boosting out of Eagle Superpipe, but in order to make snow and provide optimal conditions in our parks and pipes, we need 72 hours of ideal temperatures (average of 20 degrees or less). This includes at least 24 hours to complete snowmaking on Homerun and at least 60 hours of low temperatures to complete PayDay and Treasure Hollow. We're doing everything we possibly can to open as soon as possible. It might be time to burn some skiis as an offering to the Snow Gods. I promise to keep you updated as soon as I hear about progress. Until then, think snowy thoughts, praise Ullr, and pray for snow.
Let mother nature know how much you love Winter by dancing, partying, and going to the Fat Flake Festival Saturday, November 15th from 4:30 to 10pm, at the Gallivan Center. Local athletes will be signing autographs, and music from the Bastard Sons of Jonny Cash, Cavedoll, and Junior Giant. Hi there! As the newest member of Park City Mountain Resort, I'd like to introduce myself to all you PC loyalists. Originally from Colorado, I moved to Utah in 2006 in search of the "Greatest Snow on Earth," and a bachelor's degree in marketing. Snowboarding makes me happy...no seriously! Developing a passion for snow sports at an early age has had an amazing influence on my education, personality, and lifestyle. At this point, I wouldn't change a thing. This winter will be a milestone for me, as I'll be finishing my degree, and beginning to pursue my dreams in the industry. I look forward to each and every blog, as well as everyone's comments.
