The weather outside is back to good 'ol overcast conditions and is forecasted to stay this way through the end of next week. In the meantime, or until I get a ray of sun in the parks when I'm on the hill this week, here is a video Evan emailed me. You can always reach me at parkinfo@pcmr.com . It never fails. This morning was a bluebird drive into work, a bluebird few hours in the park setting up ropelines and b-netting, and a bluebird run down to get lunch and run into the office for my camera. As soon as I walk out with my camera ready to go, clouds and bad lighting. Rather than taking the camera back, here are some shots from Kings Crown and Payday I got before my battery died.

We opened the crown this morning at about 10. The traffic is very light as I believe everyone is out riding pow, which is what I'll be doing once I write this and clock out. We waited for the first two public to come into the crown and followed them down snapping photos along the way. So here is an opening run through the Crown, in photos.

This shot was from the opening of the Eagle Superpipe, so I thought I would put in a non-snowing photo. Tanner Hall pipe practice.
And finally, the official mascot of the park crew this season, and unofficially for the last few years. So you may see the squirrel posted up on a feature here or there. If you do, give it a nice bonk.
I would have also liked to introduce the park crew in this post, but I don't have photos of a few people yet. So look for that in a future post.
Remember, if a park is closed, don't duck the ropes. Enter the park through the gates. Don't take ropelines down and don't open a feature if we have closed it off. If you are taking down a closure put in place, there will be a harsher penalty than getting your pass pulled for a week or two, taking down a closure is not acceptable at all.

Allrighty, a little late on the posting today, but Kings Crown Terrain Park will open Sunday morning. Remember to scope the park first and be safe!
Due to the weather, winds, blowing snow, very poor visibilty at times and the nature of the area the Crown is located at, we have made the call to not open Kings Crown today. DC has pushed back their beanies, hot chocolate and doughnuts until we get better weather, which means we will be making that call as far as holding it next weekend come wednesday. Pick N Shovel, Payday Jibs and later today, conditions permitting, Lower Jonesys will be the parks open today. Bring your low light lens, your warm jackets, face masks and pow utensils and come make the most of a very windy and snowy day :) Today is definitely a day to go make the pow turns if you can make it up to the resort.
Besides the snow coming in sideways and making very large wind drifts that we can't keep up with the wind this morning in jupiter was 80mph with the current summit wind speed at an average mid 30's. Winds on the lower mountain were calming down as 9am rolled around and then picked back up again after the resort opened. Currently there are lifts sending in last chair and going on wind hold until everything quiets down again. The forecast is for the front to move through this afternoon with another front making it's way in tomorrow.

Saturday at 9:30am, Kings Crown will open it's "doors" to the public. DC will be there to provide hot chocolate and doughnuts (first come first serve...) and will be doing a beanie exchange benefiting Kids Chemo Caps.
The weather is looking very windy and snowy tomorrow, with some forecasts giving us a chance at 2 feet of snow by nightfall tomorrow. So come prepared for gusty winds and be patient, if it's very windy, the lifts will run at reduced speeds.
