Snow on the Way and Save our Snow II

We'll be getting our first taste of flakes for the 2009-10 season in the next few hours, at least that's what the National Weather Service is saying. Their forecast shows white for tomorrow, see the graphic forecast image to the right and take a look at all that dark blue that's right over us here in Park City. Woohoo!

It's good timing that the first winter storm of the season is blowing in tomorrow (September 30), as it is also the date for Save our Snow II, a community-wide meeting at the Eccles Center, here in Park City, at 7pm. Tickets are free and a few are still available (as of this afternoon) by stopping at the Eccles Center Box Office or by calling 655-3114. It will be a very interesting evening of discussion about climate change, how it could impact Park City and what we each can do about it. And, if you can't make it to the event tomorrow, please join their Save our Snow Facebook Fan Page or follow their Twitter account for lots of great information. [Update 8:30am on Sept 30 - all tickets have been distributed, but KPCW says to show up and there should be room for everyone.]

Moose on the Loose

Our Team Member Ice Cream Social yesterday was a bit more exciting than a simply the choice between sprinkles or crushed Oreos (or both) for a topping. We had a family of moose show up and along with the gorgeous fall colors that are covering the mountain it made for an fantastic afternoon. #4 Resort in North America!

We got some great news recently - the readers of SKI magazine ranked us the #4 resort in North America in their 2009-2010  readers poll. We've been consistently moving up over the years, but to get to number four is a huge testament to our team members as well as to everyone in the Park City community that helps to make a day at Park City Mountain Resort the wonderful experience that it is.

New terrain enhancements for 2009-10!

I hope that you were able to enjoy  the glading that was done last season on Crescent Ridge between Silver King and Willy's Run, I know that I sure did. This summer, our trail crew has been busy glading between Willy's Run and Erika's Gold as well as cleaning up the old line that runs from the top of Erika's Gold down to the top of Men's SL. They also cut out a couple of lines into First Temptation Run at the end of Crescent Ridge that opens up the top section that we're calling "Vista"

Summer is winding down.

It's a sure sign that summer is starting to wane when the leaves start to change to yellow and orange up on Crescent Ridge. With this sign of fall staring down at us from the ridge lines, I want to remind everyone that Season Passes are on sale now for our 2009-2010 Winter Season, with the best deals available until October 15.

One last indicator of our fading summer is the fact that we are starting tear down on some of our summer activities. Here's a list of what we're planning to be taking down and when:

• September 21 - Mini-Golf and Human Maze
• October 5 - Little Miner's Park and Climbing Wall
• October 12 - The two Alpine Slide tracks to rider's right (the original tracks), the other tracks will remain open through summer season close

Otherwise, our summer season is scheduled to run through Sunday, October 18 and then it's just over a month to our scheduled winter opening on Saturday, November 21 - 'til then, join me in dreaming of deep Utah powder days!
