Santa made his first debut in Park City via the Town Lift bringing the best gift we could ask for...SNOW, and lots of it. There was a crowd of several hundred children their to great him, including our sales manager Sean Rayner's family (pictured to the right)! If you visited Santa at the Town Lift Plaza, you can find your pictures by searching "Santa" here.
It's been dumping here and it's not stopping anytime soon. We've received 7 inches since this morning at our Summit Snow Stake. Our meteorologist friend is calling for storms through Thursday. What a great gift!
If you're in town on December 24, make sure you check out our traditional torchlight parade with Santa as the caboose. It certainly is magical, especially when it is accompanied by the beautiful Utah snow! Free cookies and hot chocolate will be handed out in the Resort Plaza beginning at 5:30 pm with the Torchlight Parade beginning at 6:15. Happy Holidays!

thanks for the response. things are looking real smooth out there. big props to the snow safety team. keep up the good work. happy holidays. see ya on the 9th

Are we supposed to have alot more runs open by the day after Christmas.
Krista replies:
Our forecaster says the "storm of the year" is rolling into Park City later today and will linger around through Saturday. This will certainly help us to open several more runs by this weekend (once we complete snow safety, of course). See you here!

Santa knew what we all were wishing for! Any word on the opening of the rest of King Kon area? Specifically runs like Sitka, Shamus, Liberty? Thanks for all the hard work and info!
Krista replies:
Sorry for the delayed response Elliot. We are anticipating to open Sitka in the next few days with Shamus to quickly follow.

i will be arriving on january 9, do you think jupiter peak will be open. i loves me some hiking
Krista replies:
I just spoke with our snow safety team and they have been doing some heavy avalanche control work around the Peak. As 406 stated in his previous post, the Avalanche danger is extremely high and so they are being very cautious. They do expect that these storms will help us open Jupiter very soon! Me loves me some hiking too!

How about the snow report. I have been watching all season and it does not make a lot of sense especially if you look at the Canyons and Deer Valley reports. Any ideas?
Mertz
Krista replies:
It is interesting to see the differences in snow depth reporting. We try to be as accurate as possible. You might not know that there is a Snotel Stake not far from our summit stake. Snotel is a Natural Resources USDA operated site completely independent of PCMR. I have included the link for the snow totals for the last seven days which shows an increase of 7.6 inches. At our summit stake we did have an increase of 9". I wish every resort had a Snotel site. http://is.gd/ddK7

Thank you Santa! Once again, you don't disappoint us!
Any plans for opening up more of the mountain over the next few days other than was is scheduled to open tomorrow?
See you on Wednesday!
Krista replies:
We do love Santa around here! We certainly are opening up new terrain as quickly as we can Jersey_guy. As 406 said in his previous post, avalanche danger is high and we have to move a little slower than we would like. Certainly this foot of snow will help, and there is more in the forecast! We'll see you on Wednesday. You will not be disappointed.

Krista replies:
My sentiments exactly Chapel Hillian! We'll see you soon.
