According to my co-worker Meisha, yesterday was a great day to be up on the mountain as it snowed about 8 inches over the course of the day. This morning, I was hoping that it might have snowed a bunch more overnight, but instead we saw only a few more flakes. That extra skiff of snow did make for some fun riding when I took a quick run up in McConkey's to snap the couple of photos you see above. I can personally vouch that the snow conditions are really getting quite good after the past several storms. To see for yourself check out more pix from this season in our Park City Mountain Resort Flickr photostream.
Speaking of snow, I'd like to shed some light on the process that we use in our snow reporting. We update our 24 hour snow total daily at 5 am, and if it's snowing, our 12 hour total once at 5pm - this snowfall information can be found on our snow report page (we will be putting up a description of this process on that page shortly). If you want to see more snow plot information, visit these Summit and Jupiter snow stake data pages (the text option is really sweet for those of you with web access on your phones). Bear in mind that these readings are posted via technologies that are not infallible and the snow readings can be affected by any number of factors including wind, settling, sun and more. If neither of those are updating, you can also try the Thaynes Canyon SNOTEL site located in near our Summit stake, this station reports snow depth and temperature but precipitation only reported as snow water equivalent.
PS If it was a blog reader that yelled out "thanks" to the patrollers ski cutting at the top of Crescent Lift this morning, I'd like to say "Thank You!" to you for reading!

Chapel Hillian thank you for your positive comment on www.skistats.com/slopes_detail.asp?resort=Park%20City.

Thanks for the opinions! I have to buy the beer..oh well, at least I get to partake too. I have a feeling we're going to be perusing and discussing the skistats.com site over some pints...
Eric replies:
Have fun with it Chapel and cheers!

Hey Eric!
Its Bryton again. Were finally in PC and have been enjoying the great conditions! I have one more question though. Is the Jupiter peak going to open anytime soon??
Thankyou.
-Bryton
Eric replies:
Great to have you in town! To my understanding, Jupiter lift is next on the list of openings and opening it is dependent upon snow safety and how much slides once our team is able to get up and do control work...I certainly hope that we can get it open soon, but I've heard it may take another storm or two due to the unstable layer of snow that's sitting near the bottom of our snow pack right now.

This may be outside your normal blog topic, but I would love your opinion on this less-weightier topic. Besides, the loser in our group buys the beer. At PCMR, what, in your opinion, is the most-difficult-technically green? Least-difficult-blue run? Most-difficult-blue? Least-difficult-black? Note, I'm not asking the hardest black. Some people know no fear.
Eric replies:
Chapel, this isn't outside of our normal topics and I like the idea of being responsible for someone buying beer! :-) In my mind the green is 1/2 load (because it doesn't get groomed often), blue is Sunnyside (because of the length) and the black Dynamite (because you can access just the bottom half from Mel's Alley). A neat resource for slope pitch at Ski Resorts can be found at http://www.skistats.com.
