At 9:00am this morning, we kicked off our 2008-2009 season with both the PayDay and First Time lifts. This happy group got the first chair on PayDay and the honor of first tracks of the season down Homerun, but we all had plenty of time to get up and make some turns. There were even a bunch (12) rails and boxes setup from the bottom of Waterfall and down Homerun for jibbing.
We've put a gallery of images up on our flickr account and we'll have a video up soon too (see below)!
So, get up here for some great early season riding, but keep doing those snow dances. Because now I really want to get up on the new Crescent Lift, check out a photo of the top of it in the flickr gallery, however we need a fair bit more snow and cold for us to be able to get it running. In the meantime, get your legs in shape and have some fun on what we have!

How long will the snow you have last? I don't see cold weather to make snow for at least five days (which is what has been forecast for the last 3 weeks.)
Eric replies:
David, I don't know that we can accurately predict how long the snow we have will last. Because it is man-made it is very dense and will last longer than natural snow and the rate at which the snow melts depends a number of other factors - temps, sun, skier/boarder traffic, etc. Good weather news: the forecast is that a front with colder air is now expected to hit us this Tuesday!

How is the park ?
how many jumps and rails ?
when they are going to open pick, jonesys and kings ?
thanks
Eric replies:
Good morning Vitor, check out http://parkcity.typepad.com/ride_park_city/ for the best park updates, but we currently have 12 rail and funbox features up along the lower section of Homerun along with one 10 foot jump. The other parks will open as soon as conditions permit, but we can't say when that will be at this time as it is completely weather dependent.

great you have a run open. with mother nature not cooperating, what will you be able to open up next with snow making and when will that be? Anything new for Sunday?
Eric replies:
Jeff, nothing new to report at this time. We still need over a day of continuous snowmaking just to get PayDay run open. Once we get Payday and Treasure Hollow runs open, we will move to the runs off Bonanza lift and then Silverlode...we only need some cold weather please!!!

great video.
jeez, we need to compete with Alta and Snowbird, they each have over 45 runs open. Hopefully we'll get a dump to open up Payday (the run) and cresent.
Eric replies:
pacer521, the Little Cottonwood resorts have over a thousand foot advantage in base elevation which often allows them to open faster than us. But, with cooler temps and a storm or two, we'll be opening up things quickly. Glad you liked the video!
