Where did this storm come from?!

Holy smokes! I wasn't planning on heading up for any real skiing today - we were 'supposed' to be scouting around for some upcoming photo shoots, but once we got up to McConkey's at around 11 and saw that the 'Pearly Gates' to Jupiter Peak were open we just had to take a closer look (for the shoot of course). I dropped into P-Zone and suddenly I realized that somehow we seem to have gotten more than the foot of snow that this storm had supposedly dropped, check out this skier:

After that we decided we needed a bit more recon on Jupiter Peak so we headed back for round two. We figured that it would be worthwhile to hike to the top and after dropping in through Twilight I can honestly say that the snow today was definitely up there with the storm cycles of January and February - it was awful good:

I thought I was ready for spring skiing and hitting the decks around the mountain, but after today, I guess I'm ready for more winter, bring it on!

Let it snow! Any idea when Pinecone is going to reopen? Seems like its been closed for quite a while.

Eric replies:
Hi Scott, I checked with my fellow blogger Mark regarding your question about Pinecone. He said that they were hoping to have Pinecone open this past weekend but ran into the issue that they weren't able to get the road up to the top of Pinecone completely cleared. The road has to be groomed out in order for us to be able to open Pinecone so hopefully we can get that taken care of soon and open Pinecone for some corn cycles later on this month!

Eric,

Cool photos and thanks for letting me know about Jupiter Peak and surroundings. It was really fun today!

Take Care,

Rod Motta

Eric replies:
Rod, great to hear that you made it up top as well - conditions were fantastic!
